Aviv Rubinstien is a Philly-native filmmaker/screenwriter living and working in Los Angeles.

After earning a Masters in Fine Arts from Boston University in 2010, he got his start producing, directing, and editing live music videos for notable bands like Ok Go, mewithoutYou, and Frightened Rabbit.

His first feature film, a narrative-documentary hybrid entitled The Anchorite, was released in 2015 by Synergetic Entertainment. The film followed three musicians at different parts of their careers as they toured the country and settled old scores. It was shot over the course of 35 days and featured musical performances from over a hundred up-and-coming artists.

He has since written and directed several genre-jumping feature films, shorts. He has also worked as a script consultant for over a dozen film and TV properties for companies like Imani Media Group, Amalgamation Pictures, Faith Films, Hundreds Entertainment, Barking Cow Media Group, Monami Entertainment, and Jury Prize.

Aviv’s love for all things film and film-related has led him to pursue teaching at well-regarded institutions such as Emerson College, Hussian College Los Angeles, New York Film Academy, and Boston’s Grub Street. He has also guest lectured at Boston University and the University of Rhode Island.

You can catch Aviv, and his co-host Lianne, on Yeah, I’ve Seen That! – a weekly podcast where they challenge each other to explain the plots of famous movies that they have never seen.
